Hello all,

My name is Kirk Rheinlander. I am an Enterprise Architecture consultant
working as a technology volunteer for a new public charter school in Ft.
Collins. (To be located in the Timberline church at Stuart and Lemay -
colocated with the schurch for the first year)

I got to this list via Martin Fink, HP's General Manager for Worldwide
Linux Operations. Along with HP's Alan Meyer's assistance, we are
struggling to get some help going for a new school here in Ft. Collins.

As head of the technology committee, I have been driving the efforts to get
the technology in place for this new school, scheduled to open in Sept.

I'd like to solicit help from anyone that is interested in working with us.

We are planning on implementing LTSP - particularly, K12LTSP.ORG, a bundle
of software, including RedHat7.1 and LTSP, along with education specific
software, StarOffice and other stuff.

This will all be implemented on large scale servers, and diskless
workstations (read: donated PCs) with LinkSys LX10/100 card with Etherboot
ROMS.

We have some equipment, a limited budget in the form of a state grant, and
lots of enthusiasm. What we really need is some Linux knowledge.

Tonight (sorry for the short notice), at Fit4Fun (behind Target on Mason)
we are having a volunteer meeting. Anyone that can show up that would like
to help would be appreciated. It is from 6-9, Wed-Aug1. Bring your kids -
they discount the entry to $4/child for our meetings, so parents can attend
with kids entertained.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the short notice - everything is going
fast in getting this new school off the ground.

We need LTSP expertise, firewall (Sguid?), content filtering (SquidGuard?),
LDAP (400+ students to adminster), KDE, StarOffice, LINUX, X, hardware
(Notfinity 4500 and 6000r rack servers) network wiring, switches, routers,
etc. - in other words, expertise across the whole gambit.

We also have 1 multimedia WindowsME machine per classroom. This needs to
run in the Linux world as well.

Kirk
