[NCLUG] st driver problems

Hi All,

We just got a slew of DLT tapes (~500) in at work so we ordered a Dell
PowerValut tape loader (actually we got 3 of them). It has a Quantum
DLT7000 drive and 7 slot loader.

Well we hooked up the system to a HP Kayak PII computer and loaded the
latest KRUD.

The result is that we have full control of the tape drive and the loader.
We can run all the mt and mtx commands. The problem is that we cannot
transfer any data to or from the tapes. I have tried 2 of the drives and
have the same problem. I pop in a blank tape and cannot dd or tar any data
onto it. It will start a write and then fail. I pop in a tape I know has
data and I cannot read the data either.

I looked and /var/log/messages and there were several SCSI errors. If
anyone has any ideas, I would like to here them.

Dave Graham
