Well not really, but ok.

I did bcc her to let her know what I was doing. I used bcc because I didn't 
want to overwhelm her with mail from whatever discussion ensued.

Yeah, something like that. I guess we can't expect everyone to understand what 
being part of a community that rejects such things is about. The offer the 
Ziff Davis made might seem totally reasonable to someone who is used to being 
controlled by greedy corporations  1/2 :)
