I ended up configuring my tocuchpad/pointing stick as a ps2 mouse and have
a directive for that as well as my usb mouse in my XF86Config-4, so I can
switch off if I want to attach my USB mouse. I am working to make it
autdetect, since changing it every time is annoying.
