And how do the Linux zelot's following the RMS banner shoot themselves in the foot?
By totally shunning all closed source applications and drivers in the Linux market,
AND by the RMS edicts, declaring war with a mandate to clone any that try to support
a closed source application or driver under linux.

5. Hardware compatibility can be an issue. Some hardware manufactures don't want to
release the necessary info if they know it would become open source.

In Microsoft land, hardware vendors are able to slow down cheap foriegn knock off
clones with closed source IP (both drivers and firmware) by handing tested and
certified drivers to Microsoft to be included in the next release of the product.

In Linux land, those become unsupported products, which frequently reflect the best
of the market and the most desired. In high performance games ... which hardware
is supported and desired for the best user experience? Seldom those supported by
Linux.
