I found a Konqueror bug report that addresses the problem:

   http://bugs.kde.org/db/22/22920.html

The second to last message points out that Konqueror uses "greekpoly times"
rather than "times". So I'm guessing the issue only appears when "greekpoly"
is installed. Could you execute this command and see if you get anything?

   xlsfonts | grep "greekpoly times"

On my machine I get:

-grinet-greekpoly times-medium-i-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1
-grinet-greekpoly times-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1

My next step is to figure out what on earth "greekpoly" is for and which RPM
installs it.

Right now it isn't clear to me whether this is a Konqueror bug or not. Could
Konqueror be getting confused with the space? The bug report is really old,
apparently applying to Konqueror 2.1, so I'm wondering why this never got
fixed.
