humm... try running 'redhat-config-network'  and see if you can go to
the hardware tab and add the modem...if you can see if there, you
should be able to configure it. Otherwise it's something with the card
that it's not detecting the modem. 

You can also try plugging in the card and rebooting and see if kudzu
picks up on it.
