I'd be interested in hearing an answer to this one, too.

I lost the toolbar for the root user only when I made some environment
changes for Oracle.  Specifically, the shell for root was required to change
from bin/bash to bin/sh.

Now logging in as root gets me the xterm only, which is fine, it discourages
me from using root frivolously.  Other users still have the gnome tools and
icons.  Enlightenment remained in the background, so I can middle mouse
click for a menu.

However, how do you log off and return to a login prompt?
