Dear Executive Directors, etc.
I am writing you to advise you about an opportunity that has come up at Poudre
Valley Hospital. They have up graded to new computers at their facility and
have over 100 CPUs (the Box with the computer's brains in it) that they are
trying to dispose of. While these units don't come with a monitor, power cord,
or Operating System, they might make a welcome addition to your office, or
client use area, where older model PCs are still being used. The cost is $75
for each CPU, $10 for each keyboard and $5 for each mouse or headphone. Please
forward this email to other organizations that might be interested.
There are several different models to chose from, but all are Hewlett-Packard
Vetra VL units.
The Specs are: Pentium-I, 100 or more, MHz controllers
1.2 to 2.0 Gig hard drives
4x to 8x CD-ROM drives
One floppy disk drive
3com Network card in each
32 to 48 Megs of ram
Some have sound cards
Some have USP ports
Some are horizontal format boxes, and some "vertical "towers"
All have expansion bays and slots
The Negitives are:
They do not have an operating system on board. They did have Windows 95.
Therefore, you'll need the technical expertise to boot them up from the A: drive
and load your own operating system, and other software. You will also need a
power cord and a monitor, but you may have those from an older machine that you
retired. They do not have an internal modem.
TO OBTAIN one or more of these units, contact Mary Wright at PVH, 495-7517 or
mlw3 at PVH.org.
