[NCLUG] apt-get questions

So allong those lines, I'm a debian person because of apt (I hate
dependancy hell) but I'm not real pleased with debian for a number of
other reasons (java runs really slowly for some reason).

What I'm wondering is, is apt-rpm a good substitute or would I be
unapppy with that compared with apt-get?
