[NCLUG] Linux on SCSI Raid array

A freind of mine gave me a IBM PC Server 330 the other day to replace my
current Compaq (P2-300, 64 meg ram) that does the IP Masquerading for
our house. The PC Server has dual P2-266 chips, 128 megs ram, and a
hot-plug drive cage with 5 - 4.5 gig drives running Raid5. When he gave
me the box it had Windows 2000 set up on it and booted up and ran fine.
The problems started when I tied to install Linux. I first tried
Debian, then tried Mandrake but both report that they cannot find a hard
drive. The correct SCSI controller module is being loaded (I have even
tried specifying it during install) but still no drive found. I can't
remember off the top of my head what the exact controller card number
is, its an Adaptec U2 wide card. I then pulled the drives out and
started looking at them and found that they are all set to ID 0. I have
never set up a raid drive array before, but every other SCSI chain I
have set up I put a unique ID on each device. Am I correct in assuming
that these drives all need a unique ID? When I go into the ServeRaid
setup everything looks ok, 5 drives set to raid5, all online with 1
logical drive. Any Ideas on what I need to do to get Linux to see my
drives? Thanks,

BJ
