oh, forgot to mention about the cd-boot.
yes, the bios states to first boot from floopy, then from cdrom, then hard disk.

and when you run, it stops for a bit on that 
Boot from CD:

you see the lights flash a lot, then it gives up and goes to lilo.

is there something else in the bios that needs to be set to make it work?
