Agreed wholeheartedly - far too much of my job these days is spent 
trying to comprehend M$ licensing... they make it so ridiculously 
complicated.  It is extremely easy to be violating the license even when 
trying to comply.  I'm sure it's easier for others, but my brain is 
clearly not wired to grok M$ licensing concepts.

FWIW this is my real beef with M$ - it is not that they have proprietary 
software, it's that they create such torturous licenses that 
understanding what legitimate usage of the product is requires a lawyer.

If proprietary software had a standard license akin to the GNU it would 
be great (by akin I mean standard and well understood, not that it is 
trying to protect usage in the same way).  I know (roughly) what GNU 
means when I get it, the same is definitely not true of the average 
video game I play that I scroll through pages of legalese and click 
accept to get through.
