Just for some of my experience:

Trying to upgrade my 64-bit box from Maverick to Natty failed,
complaining that ubuntu-minimal wasn't available. There were several
bugs open related to this, but no responses.

Network installing Natty 64 on my box kept dropping the network
interface during install. I had to go to another console and kill dhcp
and then manually configure the network ("ip link up", "ip addr add",
   "ip route add default")...

The install hung part-way through. I'm not sure if this is a hardware
problem or a kernel problem, but I seemed to be locking up when writing
a lot of data (recovering the data from the system required 4 or 5
reboots to fully copy 25GB). The hardware tests out fine under
memtest... It's been ok since I stopped writing a bunch of data to it.
I also had some issues with Maverick that I never tracked down, but many
of them seemed to be video related so I'm not sure if I have a hardware
   problem or what...

KDE 4.6 has an issue where some windows won't properly un-maximize.
Most annoyingly for me is xterm exhibits this, but I found a work-around
in the KDE bugzilla that has fixed it until 4.7 comes out (which
apparently has a fix). Here's the bug I filed and my follow-up with the
   work-around:

      https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=272886

So, there were issues, but it worked out ok. I probably shouldn't have
upgraded since the old install was mostly working ok except for continued
video driver issues. But, now I'm mostly back up and running, and trying
out an ATI board.
