Another option that is gaining popularity is MATE
(http://mate-desktop.org/). It's literally just a continuation of the
Gnome 2 code base to keep it all up to date. There is even work in
process to port it all it GTK+ 3.
So if you're a fan of Gnome 2 and haven't been satisfied with anything
else, you'll love MATE.
