Everything has gone to SATA.  DVDs/CDs are SATA based now.  And even
those are becoming more rare on new machines.

A couple of years ago I bought a USB 3.5 FDD unit that was designed
for use with a laptop.  Good for those infrequent times when I need to
recover something from a floppy.  Works with any USB system.  Good for
another couple of years.  No need for a native FDD interface anymore.
I still have a working 5.25 FDD system for those ancient disks.
