a box set of Mandrake, I suggest you read the manuals. There should
be descriptions of the programs installed, many of which you can
run right now.

You'll want to look for 'Shell' and 'Editor' information. You're
running the shell 'bash'.  Typing 'man bash'<enter> will show you
the online manual for 'bash'. ('man' is used to display manual [man]
pages).

Don't worry if what 'man bash' displays doesn't make a lot of sense
to you right now.

There is a "The Linux User's Guide" available which you'll want to
read. I'll send it to you directly. It contains more information about
shell commands, editors and the sorts of things you can do with 
your new setup.
