David Auter started the meeting off talking about Snort and Suricata.
Unfortunately due to projector interrface problems this became an
audio only talk.

The online description "Suricata is a free and open source, mature,
fast and robust network threat detection engine. The Suricata engine
is capable of real time intrusion detection (IDS), inline intrusion
prevention (IPS), network security monitoring (NSM) and offline pcap
processing."

Using the rules from Oinkmaster. (Snort. Oinkmaster.) The
description, "Oinkmaster is a script that will help you update and
manage your Snort rules."

This was followed by a lively discussion of malicious attacks and
avoiding them. Bob asked if anyone had experience with Quad 9 DNS at
9.9.9.9, a new DNS service designed to block malicious sites by not
resolving addresses for them. And of course the present course of Net
Neutrality.

This was followed by the usual dinner. Coopersmith's was the decision
tonight.
