OS on drive other than boot drive?

Hi,
I have a server that apparently cannot boot from nvme SSD drives.
I've set up UEFI boot to boot a SATA SSD but I'd like to use the nvme
drives for the OS, Ubuntu 22.04.
Is there a way to set up the UEFI boot drive (SATA SSD) to boot an OS
partition on the nvme drives?
