The ZFS development group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-caliber team that delivers innovative filesystem software.  This team member will focus on performance-related issues for the filesystem in addition to writing code for ZFS.

 

The members of the ZFS team are responsible for developing future capabilities that will be used in Solaris and in the Sun ZFS Storage Appliance. These engineers work on ZFS and other kernel software development.  This opening is specifically for someone to write software focus on performance aspects of the filesystem with an understanding of all components of the stack that impact performance.

 

 


About Our Product


 

ZFS is core technology for Solaris and directly impacts many products.  It is an innovative filesystem that provides immense capacity (128 bit), provable data integrity, on-disk format that is always consistent, self-optimizing performance, and real-time remote replication.

 

 


Preferred Skills and Experience


BS/CS or equivalent. Masters preferred. 
7+ years of Operating Systems development experience
Experience with UNIX programming in C
Experience with filesystem programming
Experience with and a passion for software performance
Excellent debugging and analytical skills
Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills
Ability to learn new skills quickly
Ability to work independently as well as in a small team.
