The Solaris OS Networking team is responsible for Operating system kernel networking stack.


Join a fast moving team of experienced OS developers working together to make Solaris OS run fast in a virtualized environment.

We are looking for a motivated software engineer with Solaris or Linux kernel expertise, experience with networking, excellent multi-threaded C programming skills, and a good understanding of OS virtualization concepts.

 

 

We are working on a wide variety of exciting technologies at the core of the Solaris Operating System and Oracle Engineered Systems.  Typical responsibilities within our group include:



- the specification and design of new features within the kernel networking stack, from core protocol support, to virtualization, performance, and driver APIs.
- characterize performance issues throughout the network stack and the rest of the operating system,
- specify test plans to ensure the highest quality of developed features,
- work closely with other groups within the core Solaris engineering organization, as well as with other engineering groups within Oracle



 

The individual should possess:



- UNIX or Linux kernel internals experience (Solaris preferred)
- Experience with networking or distributed system
- Excellent C and multi-threaded programming skills
- Strong debugging skills, including at the kernel and networking level.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Must have excellent teamwork skills, while being to work independently on complex problems
- Strong desire to innovate and see that innovation released to customers
