[NCLUG] Routing and IP aliases

Hi,

I just moved a (colocated) system to a new network with a different
configuration. Here is the problem:

I have a interface, eth0, 192.168.0.1, with a netmask of 255.255.255.0
and a gateway of 192.168.0.254.

This machine also has IP aliases eth0:0, eth0:1, ..., on a different
network with IPs 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2, ... The company I am
colocating with is is routing this network to eth0's true IP
(192.168.0.1).

Since the virtual interfaces are on a different subnet than the "real"
interface (eth0), how do I configure my routing table to handle the
situation? I figured it'd be something like

route add -net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.0.1 eth0

but this doesn't work... Any suggestions?

Thanks, and infinite gratitude to NCLUG for saving my neck a zillion
times already...

P.S. The IPs/netmasks/etc. have been changed to protect the innocent.
