[NCLUG] 56k v.90 external modem recommendations?

The subject says it all.

I'm looking for an external (linux-compatible, serial port interface)
56k v.90 modem to replace my aging 28.8 Deskporte FAST one.  Does
anyone have any suggestions?  E.g.: "stay away from <brand.model>" or
"I have <brand.model> and it works great with FRII," etc.
