[NCLUG] Looking for work.

Person Who Asked To Have Her Name Removed From The Internet ADDRESS_REMOVED_BY_REQUEST
Mon Oct 29 22:14:32 MST 2001

I'm sittin in the CSU IT pool and in the last 5 months
there's only been one job oppty that came along.

better options are headhunter.net, justtechjobs
(all the justxxjobs sites i.e. justjavajobs, justunixjobs, etc)
and preferably local newspapers. Seems anyone posting
on the internet has been getting overwhelmed with
thousands of eager candidates, which makes it hard.
Avoid monster.com as noone ever responds probably due to the
aforementioned reason.

If you want work, look for teaching jobs.
Obviously with the economy, everyone's been heading
back to school. All those small colleges need
people to teach the larger number of enrollment.
I did have 3 teaching jobs until I quit one.
Only catch is that some require a master's degree
but sometimes allow you in if you're working on
your degree (hence the reason I'm at CSU)

Also if you are really stuck, then apply for
grad school. I got a fun job as a GTA
(graduate teaching assistant) at CSU which
only requires well, not much more than 10 hrs a week.
And they pay your tuition.
Could also get a research assistanceship but
then ya gotta put in the 20 hrs/week.

of course, ya gotta enjoy teaching and
have lots of patience and ability to
explain the mundane.
