[NCLUG] Apache/Linux & M$ SQL Server 2000

Hi all,
I know this is a bit off topic, but I'm hoping somebody here will be
able to help me. We run a split architecture here, with Apache/Linux
handling web server duties, and WinNT 4.0/SBS running Exchange and SQL
Server 7. We have a critical database running on SQL 7 that I would like to
someday integrate with our web site. I know that there are a couple
open-source, Linux-friendly tools that will allow me to bridge the OS
barrier to do this, but we are considering upgrading to Win2k server and SBS
2k. If we do this, we can't keep SQL 7 -- M$ tells me that the upgrade
installation will overwrite SQL 7, no choice in the matter.

So now the question: Is there anything out there that will allow perl,
python, you-name-it to connect to SQL Server 2000 from a linux environment
for web development porpoises? If so, anybody have any experience with it?
If not, is there a better forum for this question that y'all might suggest?
Any & all help is proactively appreciated....

Oh, yeah - for typical reasons, nuking the microsoft box is not an option
