[NCLUG] any experience modifying gcc specs files?

 Yeah, I'm reading through some threads on the archive there and there's
some heated debate about all the gcclib stuff (shared, non-shared, break
Solaris' evil ways, etc). Just trying to figure out the best way to get gcc
to compile programs that *run* for users without them having to jump
through hoops.
