[NCLUG] keeping a linux distribution up-to-date

I've used red-carpet with RedHat 8.0, and I recently tried the RedHat 
Network to keep a RedHat 9 box up-to-date. Do the other distributions 
have comparable or better methods of keeping the OS updated with things 
like security fixes, etc.? What about Debian, Suse, Slackware, Gentoo, 
(any others)?
