In most hot-pluggable scsi cage things the ID is set by the cage based
on what slot you plug it in.

It sounds like a hardware raid setup which means you'll need the right
driver, I not sure if the normal Adaptec driver supports the hardware
raid controllers. See if you can get more information about the
controller by looking at it and googling for other people with the same
system that are running linux.
