I just bought the new Sony Cybershot DSC-U30 camera - tiny little thing
about 1/2 the size of a deck of cards, uses Sony memory sticks for
storage. When I saw your posting on NCLUG today I hooked it up to my
Linux box via the USB port--would not work. A quick Google on it said I
had only to switch the camera to USB PTP mode....and indeed it worked
just great with the gtkam package that's included with KRUD Linux. It's
related somehow to the gPhoto package....and it picked up the right
driver on it's own. I was impressed, anyway -- not so long ago that USB
and Linux were not at all plug-n-play. I was impressed that KRUD picked
up and configured my external USB soundcard (Extigy) automatically also.
Cheers
