First of all let me apologize for my ignorance. I am very well off in linux,
but am new to clustering. I have purchased a couple boxes to learn how to
cluster better, these will also be used as the house file server (and a few
other minor services). So far I have found lots of information about
creating a beowulf style of cluster but that is not really what I want to
do. What I want is to have them do load balancing, but what I am really
having issues with is I want them to share disk space. Sorta like having a
raid 0 between two machines. That way I can connect to the main node and
have one of its mount points be a combination of a local drive, and an NFS
drive on the other node. I assume NFS is what I will be using, if this is
not the best way to go please point me in the right direction. Also I am
assuming that the main node will have two gigabit network cards. One to
connect to the router, so the clients can access it, and one for
communication to the other node. I have not been able to find much info
about how to setup a cluster like this, so any documentation and help would
be nice.
Again sorry I am new to cluster computing, so I may be way off on how it
needs to be setup. For easy refrence here are my goals:
1) Learn more about cluster computing, and get some hands on experince
2) Have a large amount of file storage available for media (data integrity
is not a concern, it would not matter if the data is lost, although if
possible it would be _nice_ to only lose som data should a node fail)
3) although not needed, it would be nice to set this up to be load balancing
beteween the two machines, just for the experince
Thanks in advance
cheers,
