I totally agree with this.

The ONLY reasons I still run most of the time as a separate non-root ID is:

1) To still _try_ to prevent stupid mistakes (of the 3am variety, and
program fault variety)
2) Force of habit from 15+ years of sysadmin experience

I'm, of course, in the sudoers list so it provides me little else.
