I'd encourage you to come out to a NCLUG meeting[1], a Hacking Society
meeting[2], are joining us in IRC[3] and socialize with us. There are
many people on this list that I know personally, and would consider them
very good friends. In English, we use intonations and body language to
express ourselves, mhile typing often finds us limited to :) and :(.
Most of us follow good email etiquette and refrain from using excessive
capital letters (which is construed as yelling), and try to be as
accommodating as possible.

By meeting us, it allows you to gain perspective. For instance, I can
read an email from Sean Reifschneider and know how he would say the
contents of the email (and Sean is very good at refraining from his
trademark sarcasm in email, which often doesn't translate well).

There are many strong opinions on this list, and that's okay. By
knowing us, you see what looks to be a "flame war" become a few guys
expressing their deep opinions (and every once in a while someone just
being a real bastard, which can be safely ignored).

[3] The NCLUG IRC server is nclug.org, port 6667, and most of us lime in
#hackingsociety
