First of all, thank you for your response thus far. Second, the point
has been made that, as the question currently stands, my emphasis seems
to be on specific recommendations. This is mostly due to poor wording.
Probably a more accurate question would be: What issues should a new
Linux user take into account when choosing a distribution and, in your
opinion, which distributions address these issues satisfactorily?

I think this is an important aspect that I will definitely include. It
is something that would be easy to overlook for someone coming from the
world of Microsoft and proprietary software. Also, I like the term
Google-ability.

Great advice (for ALL computer users, not just Linux). I will most
likely incorporate this into the example walk-through.
