Of the window managers that I surveyed after the demise of GNOME 2 the
two that were most like GNOME 2 were LXDE and XFCE.  Most people seem
to be migrating from GNOME 2 to XFCE.  Most people who have moved from
GNOME 2 to XFCE seem to be pretty happy with it.
