Just did a 9 install on a new notebook. It didn't automatically set up
the cdrom (though it used it just fine for the install). So a little
linking there. And it didn't find appropriate specs for the X
configuration. The big one is that it hangs on firewire initiation on
boot and on new hardware search - probably back to the firewire issue.
Otherwise things have been good for the 5 days it's been installed.

BTW, 8 didn't install on this notebook. So it may be pushing the Linux
build envelope anyway.
