Here is a snippet from my wpasupplicant.conf for a couple of the unencrypted 
nets I use.

etwork={
        ssid="MugsCoffeeLounge"
        key_mgmt=NONE
}

network={
        ssid="linksys"
        key_mgmt=NONE
}
