Me too!
Er... I've never had a chance to try it. There would be no problems
with dd'ing a partition off to an image. You can even use things like
/dev/nvram to save the state of the CMOS. I think it would work
perfectly for mirroring identical machines -- or mirroring one machine
to itself. However, I never gave it a try -- I was always concerned
about how it would handle, say, different geometry hard drives.
I have often wondered why there was no linux-based GHOST lookalike.
It seems so natural to me...
