Up until recently the winmodems were not supported. Mostly because the
mfgrs didn't want to give out thier product specs, so that any
developers who wanted to work on it simply couldn't. Even now only
certain winmodems are supported. if it works under great, but not
everyone has been this lucky. Most of the backlash is from people who
were burned w/ unsupported modems.
