Furthermore, if my experience with CF cards is any hint, you also need 
to specify the partition.  That it recognizes it as a CD-ROM seems a 
little odd -- CDs don't really have partitions.  I wonder if it is 
trying to mount /dev/sda instead of /dev/sda1...

Can you copy us the lines from your log file?
