Ok, I've had all kinds of trouble getting my printer to work over the
network. So, ok... here is the background info:
1. I have two machines, both running Debian/unstable
2. I have a parallel printer connected on one of them (hostname Medea)
and the printer works just fine on that machine.
3. Both machines are running lprng
4. When I try to print over the network, it says:
Jane:/home/shaggy$ lpr -Plp at Medea hibob
Status Information, attempt 1 of 3:
sending job 'shaggy at Jane+224' to lp at Medea
connecting to 'Medea', attempt 1
connected to 'Medea'
requesting printer lp at Medea
job 'shaggy at Jane+224' transfer to lp at Medea failed
error 'NONZERO RFC1179 ERROR CODE FROM SERVER' with ack 'ACK_STOP_Q'
sending str '^Blp' to lp at Medea
error msg: 'no connect permissions'
Waiting 10 seconds before retry
5. My /etc/lpd.perms file looks like this:
# Set default permissions
DEFAULT ACCEPT
So I'm baffled at this point, it's giving me "no connect permissions"
when, as far as I understand it, it should be accepting everything (not
secure, I know.. I'll worry about that later)
