When is a release ready for prime time .... generally when
development team is with beta test and thinks the benifits
out wieght the problems in the prior release.
The GCC team, and a miriad of beta testers declared GCC3.0 was
prime time ... just like the kernel roll to 2.4 which caused
problems for people for a year or more, and will again 2.6 rolls
later this year.
So when is something ready for prime time? It's not clear to me
that RedHat's GCC 3.0 call was a bad one, nor their early adoption
of 2.4.x kernels.
