Hello nclug'ers,

I have a few video on linux questions. I basically don't
know anything about it but want to start playing with some
things. I want some, not too expensive, hardware ideas
as well. Here are some things I *might* want to do. Maybe
you'all can give me some ideas.

*  Video (w sound) capture
I want to capture and save video from my VCR and an older
    8mm camera.

* Video editing. At least to where I can cut it into
    smaller video clips.

* I'm a coach so I really want to take small clips of video
of an athlete and be able to step through them in a frame
by frame manner. I have some tapes of professionals that
I'd like to do the same with for comparison. This would
be a great coaching tool for me.

* Make DVD (or CD-R) disks that play when you pop them in
the DVD player. (optional idea but cool)

* My brother lets me use his JVC GR-DVL120U video camera
occasionally. What is a simple Firewire card that will
work with Linux and what software do I need to grab the
    video off that camera?

Q: Do any of those all-in-one, TV, Video-In, Video-Out graphics
    cards work well with Linux?

Q: What firewire card should I get?

Q: What am I forgetting to ask?

Thank.

Bill
