Joel,
  I've got DSL from Qwest. They provided me with an
ActionTec 2520 DSL router (I think they call it a
Gateway). I've used it to route traffic to a single IP
(as assigned by the DHCP server) and to route traffic
for what Qwest a "block" of IPs (8 addresses). If your
router is leased/rented, they should exchange it with
no hassle, if you tell them you no longer run Windows.
They'll say they don't support Linux; you tell them
you don't need their support.
  The advice about acquiring a Cisco router on eBay is
also good, provided you obtain the 678 router. I don't
recall what the reason was, exactly, but Qwest Tech
spt told me the other router model cannot be used
(although that model, if delivered to customers by
Qwest, does work). Before you do, download the last
supported version of the firmware from Qwest. Versions
prior to it had a vulnerability you'll want addressed.
  By the way, the 678 were going at dirt-cheap prices
when I last looked (roughly $20 - $40).
