I have a Gyration mouse that works on the same principle. It works as a
standard optical mouse or you can wave it in the air. It takes some
getting used to but it does work.

Can't argue with you there.

DirectTV HD can be done with a "jeeped" satellite receiver, which is, I
believe, not legal in the USA. I have seen ads on the net for such
receivers but I do not know how well they might work, it's possible the
ads are fraudulent, after all - who would you complain to?

There has been some discussion on the MythTV lists about an upcoming
Hauppauge unit, due out this quarter, that can take the component HD
output and encode it. If it actually does what is claimed it might work
with Myth, but drivers would have to be developed.

Hauppauge has been as cooperative as they can be with OSS developers,
but they have problems with third-parties who are not so open minded,

Terrasoft Solutions is in Loveland. I bought a PS3 from them with YD
already installed, but looking over the instructions is doesn't look too
hard. They are the ones who did the YD development for the PS3.

I bought the PS3 from them as I would much rather support an outfit
doing OSS development than some Big Box store which sends all its
profits out of state.

If no TerraSoft Solutions employees are on this list I'd be happy to
contact them about a demo. I could also do such a demo myself but let me
get past the MythTV demo first :-)
