[NCLUG] Upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS

It sounds like what you're experiencing not KDE, but the jump from Gnome
2.x to Unity, Canonical's window manager.  Using the "Windows" or "Command"
key (depending on your keyboard version) should bring up a menu that will
allow you to search for what you might be looking for (and 12.10 is
slightly better at this, but with Amazon results on by default as well).
