[NCLUG] ds: no socket drivers loaded!

This means something blew up dealing with the PCMCIA socket drivers.

Did you recompile your kernel or something to get the HCF (bleah) driver?
Are you inserting the pcmcia modules or are they built into the kernel?
Did you rebuild the PCMCIA drivers? Same version in /lib/modules/...?

I believe the 'socket drivers' is the particular driver for your pcmcia
host bridge. lsmod, you should see pcmcia_core and your particular driver
(maaybe TI PCI1420 or i82365 or I dont know what ibooks use, unless you
have them statically linked into your kernel).

Can't give a definitive answer... hope this is a start though. Would also
explain why your (assumed) PCMCIA ethernet card isn't working either.
