Build and install openzfs from source?

Hi All,
I am struggling to upgrade Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04 because openzfs 2.4.1
won't install properly on Ubuntu 22.04.
Ubuntu's automated upgrade is broken and results in removal of
NetworkManager so you're left with no lan connectivity. I did work around
this by runnig sudo dhcpcd and installing network-manager.
Then I tried to upgrade the kernel to current repository kernel and it all
busted with no way to fix the broken dependencies.
I've had it with Ubuntu. I want a Linux distro that can be upgraded easily
without having to reinstall everything. I've normally just reinstalled
fresh but that's very time consuming process because I have a couple
servers on my system and I then have to reconfigure everything. It's about
a weeks worth of work. There are very good reasons the OS upgrade should be
automated.
Has anyone had better luck with other distros for automatic upgrading?
Thanks,
Phil
